Mauro Productions is currently embarking on a very special film project on bullying and we have an amazing cast of characters, film industry professionals, teachers, social workers,  and therapists who have joined us to create an insightful film. The complex issues of bullying from the schoolyard to the boardroom to the streets allows you to see yourself in anyone of these characters. The sad truth is the high percentage of victims verses the low precentage of bullies is astonishing.

Question:  How about Television Val?

Answer:  My career was born from television. When I was 8, I appeared on a talent show on Rogers Television - introduced as the next great piano player (my dad was my manager). Although, it has been awhile since I swam in those waters in different capacities, you certainly don't forgot how to swim. I have agreed to work with a few industry favourites (Talent) recently in television. 

Question:  So, what is the show's title?

Answer:    Stay tuned. Although, I would love to tell the world about the show. I am only saying that I agreed to work on this TV show in the short term. My bullying project is priority.

Question:  OK - If you had a chance to work with anyone in television, who would it be?

Answer:  Gosh! I have worked with so many amazing producers, programmers and industry greats over the years that is really a hard question to answer. I guess, the reality of that answer would be if the chemistry is right - green or seasoned - I would try and work with them.

Question:  Why did you stay away from televsion for so long?

Answer: Back in 2005, I basically walked away from an amazing position with the Discovery Channel Canada. It was a trying time for me personally and I thought that it would be a good idea to regroup and rebalance my life. I returned to school and I extended my family. The business is wonderful and I love it, but it sometimes can consume you and you forget about other important things in life. I am happy to report that all is wonderful. Many people have mentioned to me that it was a career breaker, but I have enriched my life and I know that television, film and even theatre will be there for me. It is in my blood.

Question:  You deal with different projects, but all your short films with the exception of the nutty feature film, deals with real human life experiences. How do  you choose projects?

Answer:  In a nutshell, good story telling is the essence of any good film, but human stories are the real born ideas that foresight can't even see, so in actuality you are like a fly on the wall being drawn in.

Question:  Some say you are a triple threat - do you find yourself a triple threat?

Answer:  Well, it is possible for individuals to do several things well, but I consider myself as an efficient multi-tasker or sometimes known as a Producer. As a producer, you need to understand the finances, the laws and the creatives. So, if you look at it that way perhaps I am a triple threat, but I don't consider myself in those regards.

Question:  What advise would you give to anyone considering the film, television or theatre business.

Answer: First off, know who you are and stay true to yourself. In the beginning, you will be asked to go get coffee, but evenually someone else will get you coffee. Only then, you will realize that you are in it for the long haul.
